Soweto on the edge of Johannesburg is South Africa's largest township with a population near 900,000. Many of it's residents live in "settlements" such as is pictured on this page. It's famous residents include Nelson and Winnie Mandela and Desmond Tutu.
We were fortunate to have been able to tour Soweto and this settlement. Our young guide (left) was quick to caution that the cute children were being taught not to beg, and were not to be tipped for posing for photos.
